Shorelight has been nominated by PIE News as a finalist for The PIEoneer Awards 2020 in the Digital Innovation of the Year—Learning category. We have been recognized for our digital learning platform, Shorelight Live, a digital classroom experience that stands apart in a landscape of unsatisfying asynchronous online learning alternatives.
In times of travel restrictions, health concerns, and uncertainty about in-person classes, it is essential that students have a superior virtual learning option. Shorelight Live meets this need, and is currently being used at many of our university partnerships.
For example, students can start earning credits towards their degree from home with American Collegiate Live. They can then transfer those credits to their dream university when they are able to travel to campus.
The Live platform has had an overwhelmingly positive response from our counselors. Through our American Collegiate Live demos, we have found that:
90% of counselors and high school counselors give a favorable rating to the American Collegiate Live student experience after seeing it.
96% of counselors of international students indicate that more than half of their students will be interested in starting their degree through American Collegiate Live if travel/visa restrictions remain in Fall 2020.
83% of counselors and high school counselors rate Live better than traditional online learning.
It is an honor to be nominated for this global international education award. PIE News received hundreds of submissions this year, exceeding 2019 nominations. According to PIE News, “the nominations this year have been exceptional in showcasing so much excellent work that is being carried out across the international education industry, and it was very competitive.”
The awards will be presented virtually at the end of September.
